The Dragon Boat Festival is a Chinese holiday that takes place on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month of each year and carries on throughout the month of June. This year the event begins on May 30. Given BC’s large Chinese population, the Dragon Boat Festival is widely celebrated throughout the province.
This year, BC Chicken is taking part in the celebrations by working alongside Overwaitea Food Group for a promotion with their specialty Asian chicken. Come visit us at the following locations May 26-27, 2017:
Although the Dragon Boat Festival officially kicks off on May 30, there are plenty of exciting activities to experience in the province throughout the month of June. The 29th Annual Concord Pacific Vancouver Dragon Boat Festival is taking place between June 23 and June 25 with plenty of activities for the whole family to enjoy.
The Dragon Boat Festival is the perfect time to bring the family together for a delicious meal of specialty Asian chicken in celebration. Specialty breeds of Asian chicken like Silkie chicken and Taiwanese chicken are both appetizing and full of healthy.
Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners believe that eating Silkie chicken improves health such as organ functionality, blood circulation and immune system function, often recommending it to women after pregnancy in the form of chicken soup.
The distinct flavour of specialty Asian chicken makes it an ideal base for soups, stews and hot pots. BC’s chicken farmers are proud to grow Silkie and Taiwanese breeds of chicken in order to satisfy a growing ethnic market in the province.
