The British Columbia Chicken Marketing Board (BCCMB) and the British Columbia Broiler Hatching Egg Commission (BCBHEC) have held two Joint Summits to date. The first summit occurred in September 2019 and the second one in January 2020.
During these Summits, both Boards brought forward concerns they felt represented the sentiments of their members. These discussion identified the need for a strategic framework for the industry.
In February 2019, the BCCMB and BCBHEC conducted a survey of all stakeholders to ensure their feedback was incorporated in the framework.
On March 5, 2019, BCCMB Chair Harvey Sasaski and BCBHEC Chair Jim Collins presented an update on the strategic framework for the BC chicken industry at the BCCMB and BCBHEC Annual General Meetings. If you were not able to see the presentation in person, you can view it here.
On August 6, 2020, the BCCMB and BCBHEC announced this initiative will be held in abeyance until early 2021. The full update can be viewed here.
