2026 Funding Opportunities

The start of new year marks the opening of various financial assistance and funding opportunities.

The Board would like to highlight a few with the Investment Agriculture Foundation (IAF) and Province of British Columbia. While this list is not exhaustive, it may be helpful to your farm or agri-business operation.

For final details on all opportunities, please refer to the funder or grantor’s site or application process.

Summer Student Farm Worker Bursary (IAF):

  • up to $3,000 per student, depending on hours worked
  • requirements include: enrolled as a student, 16 years old by May 1, legally permitted to work in Canada
  • Applications open January 27 until funding is fully subscribed

Agriculture and Food Export Program (Governments of Canada and BC):

  • $5,000-$75,000 grant per year, cost sharing at various % amounts
  • eligibility includes: registered, licensed or certified to do business in B.C; producers, processors, co-ops, associations, boards, councils involved in market development and expanding global reach
  • Applications open January 19 to February 13

Food Safety Practice Funding (IAF, Governments of Canada and BC):

  • various $ grant amounts, within categories for Assessments, Improvements, and Certifications
  • requirements include: operate agrifood business for human consumption in BC, active BN from the CRA or active GST and file income taxes in BC
  • Applications are open, and will be received, reviewed, and adjudicated on a first-come, first-served basis until available funds are fully committed

Beneficial Management Practices (BMP) Program (IAF)

  • various $ grant amounts, within 15 Categories under 3 types of projects, including (upcoming):
    • Extreme Weather: Plans and Assessments: Applications open October 1
    • Biodiversity: Applications open February 11
    • Energy and Fuel Efficiency: Applications open February 11
    • Extreme Weather Preparedness: Applications open February 11
    • Nutrient and Water Management: Applications open February 18
    • Soil Carbon: Applications open February 18
    • more to open in late February
  • requirements include: farmers or ranchers in BC
