Updates to the Flock Information Reporting Form were necessary to fulfill the regulatory requirements mandated by the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations.
The regulations prescribe the reporting of medication and vaccine use and dosage administered on-farm and at the hatchery. The current Flock Information Reporting Form (Version 8.0) is missing the requirement for reporting the dosage for vaccines administered at the hatchery. CFIA agreed that the dosage of vaccines given at the hatchery can simply be recorded as “1 dose” instead of requiring a specific quantity, which is based on the assumption that “1 dose” either reflects the manufacturer recommendations or veterinarian prescriptions. This interpretation will make it easy for growers to implement the change.
In terms of timing for implementation, growers can start using the new version right away but may continue using the current Version 8.0 to the end of 2025 so that existing forms may be used up.
As of January 1, 2026, Version 9.0 must be used.
