Elimination of Record Assessment from the BC Audit Cycle
With the elimination of the BC Bio-Security Program (as its standards and protocols are now encompassed in the National Programs) a full on-farm audit is required annually. Due to COVID and AI annual on-farm audits were temporarily suspended.
On June 18, 2024, the Board accepted the recommendation of staff to remove the CFC records assessment audit to be replaced with a full audit each year, thus satisfying the BC Biosecurity program and surpassing the CFC national requirements.
The Board agreed with staff that annual in-person audits are simply a better and clearer way to ensure on-farm accountability and maintain a relationship with BC growers as well as build and enhance public trust by providing clearer and more frequent communication about BC growers’ commitment to biosecurity and animal care protocols.
As of September 1, 2024, all unassigned records assessment audits will be upgraded to full audits. If you have questions, please contact the Board office at info@bcchicken.ca
