Earlier in October, Luce Bélanger, Vice-Chair of Chicken Farmers of Canada, and Lauren Kennedy, Director of Public Affairs & Communications, appeared before the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry as part of its final consideration of the report on the role of the agriculture and agri-food sector in Canada’s food security.
They highlighted how Canada’s supply management system works across the country to reliably deliver safe, fresh chicken to Canadians.
They also addressed the growing concern around imported chicken being fraudulently mislabeled as spent fowl, for which the CFC is working with CBSA, CFIA, and researchers at Trent University.
