Over recent years, the Board hosted consultations within the chicken industry and continues to hear from growers. A common topic is a support program for those joining the industry as growers — a New Entrant Grower (NEG) Program.
The former program was retired last year while a future, potentially updated, NEG program was explored. Meanwhile, the Board considered a number of chicken-growing and quota policies, programs, and realities.
At this time, the Board has decided to put the NEG program in abeyance pending future strategic planning. The Board may choose to implement an NEG program in the future however.
What was considered, what was decided, and the reasons are detailed in the New Entrant Grower Update – September 2026 (two pages).
